Providing safe shelters and meeting basic needs for displaced families in Sudan
In response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan, GRO has established emergency shelters and basic needs assistance programs for thousands of displaced families. Our shelters provide safe, dignified temporary housing for those who have lost their homes due to conflict and natural disasters.
We distribute essential Non-Food Items (NFIs) including hygiene kits, blankets, cooking utensils, and clothing. Our teams work tirelessly to ensure that basic needs are met, allowing families to maintain their dignity and focus on rebuilding their lives.

Rapid response to disasters and conflicts, providing urgent assistance such as food, shelter and medical care to those affected.

Eng. Adam Abakar Zakaria Defaa is the Founder and CEO of Goodwill's Relief Organization, with nearly two decades of experience in international humanitarian action, recovery, and development in challenging conflict and post-conflict settings across the Middle East, Africa and USA.
Originally from Al Fasher, Mariam was forced to flee with her family from devastating violence. After a perilous journey, they found refuge in Tawila. Now, with support from GRO, she attends school and a Child-Friendly Space, healing through art and play while holding onto her dream of a better future.
We have been working on the ground in Sudan since 2024, reaching thousands of beneficiaries through our various programs
GRO's first humanitarian response in Sudan was in Alfasher city and Tawila in North Darfur State, in response to famine, where we provided vital food aid through common kitchen and food basket programs to people in need. Since then, our focus has been on assisting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities with essential lifesaving support.
